Marie De Decker
Marie De Decker, an eminent Euro-African artist based in Luxembourg, began her career as a photographer, gaining recognition for the quality of her portraits. Born in Montmartre (Paris, France), her unique style involves the intricate application of gold leaf to a variety of media, including wood, paper and her own photographs. The result is exceptional, truly one-of-a-kind pieces, exhibited and admired by an elite clientele.
Marie has traveled extensively and draws inspiration from many cultures to create her style. She is particularly inspired by the art of the African continent, ancient Asian lacquers, Egyptian Anticart (Fayoum Portraits) and European art from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. Her work reflects her in-depth knowledge of art history and her deep appreciation of the craftsmanship of different cultures.
Her refined creations, characterized by their grandiose reflections, leave an indelible impression on anyone who sees them. In her creations, she seeks out the divine that resides in humanity and nature. Marie holds a French baccalauréat in applied arts (Lycée Ernest Hemingway Nîmes, France, 2006). She continued her studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles (Art in the public space), the Ecole de Photographie Agnès Varda and obtained a diploma in Graphic Design from the Haute école Francisco Ferrer. She has dedicated her career to the pursuit of artistic excellence, exhibiting her work at a number of prestigious events and venues.
