Louis Treserras
"As far back as I can remember, the representation of man, the obvious nature of his nudity, has been at the heart of my desire for expression, whether in the sensual search for the curved line or the sudden, silent eroticism of abandoning ourselves to the gaze of another. Nudity is a language buried deep within us, perceived by everyone and at all times, but also a mirror that emotion polishes, and in which each of us perceives his or her reflection in the image of each of us, a kind of forgotten universality. Glances, gestures and attitudes are so many deaf words that we nevertheless hear."
Louis Treserras has been painting portraits and nudes for almost 30 years. Self-defining as a self-taught artist, Louis Treserras is a painter of his time. "I seek to convey emotions, not necessarily to tell stories". His brushwork evokes the soft, velvety flesh and the play of light on the skin.
Louis Treserras' works are above all the expression of an inner world. His paintings are about vulnerability, truth and feeling.
"We all recognize ourselves, naked; we're fragile, we're vulnerable. There's no longer a shell, you can start to feel things". TRESERRAS's work is resolutely contemporary, despite being rooted in pictorial techniques from another century.
