Fabien Novarino

Originally from Savoie, Fabien spent his childhood in the mountains, where he enjoyed drawing, painting and model-building. He later moved with his family to the south of France.

His love of wide open spaces was to be turned upside down by this radical change in climate and landscape. This new location had a strong influence on him and definitively established his determination to become a painter.

He followed literary studies and frequented museums and exhibitions before embarking on a business career. At the age of 27, he stopped his professional activity to devote himself exclusively to the pursuit of his youthful passion. Initially close to the Provençal school, he produced numerous canvases with a variety of figurative subjects, ranging from landscapes of his region to depictions of scenes from everyday life. The colors are vivid, the gestures expressive. Later, he broadened his field of exploration by turning his gaze towards resolutely different places, with marked contrasts, such as New York and Paris.

Since 2010, leaving his easel behind, Fabien has been incorporating photography into his work, evolving his pictorial approach towards a more contemporary language. Using personal or professional shots acquired from agencies, Fabien creates original graphic works in the neo Pop style - a worthy heir to the Pop Art movement born in the 50s - using a subtle blend of collage, drawing and stenciling, his canvases are inspired by icons from American and French cinema, modern urbanism and the world of Comics. Firmly contemporary, his art is a fine tribute to the entertainment society.

The artist's works

Today, the fruit of several years' artistic and technical research, Fabien Novarino presents a brand-new body of work in cut metal and acrylic glass, assembled on several planes, linked together by spacers. Veritable 3D wall sculptures, these original creations take up themes that are dear to him: vanitas, with its butterflies revisited with a quirky, pop eye; vintage magazines, with their improbable front pages and absolute icons; and 50s comics, interpreted in a highly contemporary Street Art style. His works, with their magnetic seductive power and astonishing plasticity, intrigue and arouse the curiosity of art lovers and collectors the world over.
