[vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=\"50px\"][vc_column_text]A photographic exhibition by Jean\u2011Fran\u00e7ois Dupon, in partnership with Adamah Fine Arts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Taken between 1965 and 1971, the photographs by Jean\u2011Fran\u00e7ois Dupon offer a rare view of Mauritius and Rodrigues on the eve of independence. Trained as a geographer, author of a state thesis devoted to the Mascarene Islands and the Seychelles, defended at the University of Aix\u2011Marseille in 1976, he travelled the two islands as part of his field research.<\/p>\n

Originally intended to illustrate academic work, these photographs now constitute a valuable testimony of a society in rapid transformation.<\/p>\n

Far from traditional representations of the island, Jean\u2011Fran\u00e7ois Dupon focuses on everyday scenes: men and women, celebrations, landscapes, sugarcane fields, villages, fishermen, and the streets of Port\u2011Louis and Port\u2011Mathurin. Moments of life, simple and authentic, that have endured to become fragments of collective memory.<\/p>\n

Drawn from the book Au fil du temps \u2013 Mauritius & Rodrigues at the dawn of a new era, the exhibition is organised around several major themes that reveal different facets of Mauritian society of the 1960s.<\/p>\n

Plus qu\u2019une plong\u00e9e dans le pass\u00e9, Au fil du temps<\/strong> invite \u00e0 red\u00e9couvrir Maurice et Rodrigues \u00e0 travers le regard attentif d\u2019un t\u00e9moin de leur histoire. Ces photographies nous rappellent que la m\u00e9moire d\u2019un territoire se construit aussi \u00e0 travers ses gestes, ses lieux et ses sc\u00e8nes ordinaires. Autant de traces qui, avec le temps, acqui\u00e8rent une valeur patrimoniale singuli\u00e8re.<\/p>\n
